My research focuses on political sociology and the sociology of religion.

My research and teaching activities focus on international cooperation, politics and society in Latin America, international development, democracy and citizenship, culture and identity.

My recent work shows, among other things, the importance of the presence of social movements for democracies and development; the importance of the presence of women and diversity in general in social movements; and the relevance of the relationship between social movements and political parties.
